EV0-Trieve™ RBP
An operator in Malaysia required the installation of a temporary intervention downhole well barrier in a gas well. Halliburton recommended a 5 1/2-in. EV0-Trieve™ retrievable bridge plug (RBP) for barrier provision.
Halliburton installed the RBP in November 2016, further to previous short-term installations. After six years of continuous well barrier service, Halliburton successfully recovered the plug in December 2022.
Typical intervention barrier provision is short-term (days or weeks) to allow immediate maintenance operations. However, on occasion, there is a need for longer-term downhole barrier provision.
After in-depth technical assessment, the EV0-Trieve RBP was deemed the best solution to address the well challenges. Halliburton performed a full assessment of the application, which included a review of metallurgy and elastomer properties, to ensure compatibility.

The EV0-Trieve™ RBP provided 2,231 days of continuous downhole barrier performance. The bridge plug was recovered in good condition, which allowed inspection and redress for future installations. The EV0-Trieve RBP demonstrated performance well beyond the standard for a gas-tight barrier for both short- and long-term applications.
