Challenge

Production in a geothermal well was slowly decreasing over the months
Attempts to bullhead acid with a small pump proved ineffective, as it could not reestablish optimum production rate
A run with Slick line confirmed an obstruction in the well, with a reduction of the 9 5/8" casing ID down to about 3“

Solution

Scale removal intervention, using the Pulsonix® TFA tool to enhance placement, remove obstructions, and propagate acid into the perforations
Fluid was continually pumped down CT/Tubing annulus to reduce surface temperature and protect the PCE - a sensor monitored the temperature
Plan was developed for an under-reamer, to enlarge the restriction after the acid run in if some scale couldn't be dissolved

Result

After a few cubic meters was pumped through the TFA tool, the well went to a total vacuum, which was what the customer wanted
The contingent run with PDM and under-reamer was not required - customer was satisfied with the unexpected results of the Pulsonix TFA treatment
Well injection rate more than doubled, indicating that the obstruction was removed and near wellbore connectivity was re-established
